Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer is a key contributor to Strahman’s operational success, responsible for driving innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement within our manufacturing processes. This role requires deep expertise in CNC programming, precision machining, and lean manufacturing principles. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, enhance product quality, and ensure the highest operational standards are met.

Primary Functions:
  • Analyze and refine existing manufacturing processes to identify and implement standardized procedures that enhance production efficiency, quality, and consistency.
  • Collaborate with production teams to optimize CNC machine programs, setup, and tool utilization to reduce cycle times, minimize scrap and improve quality
  • Design and implement new tooling, fixtures, and equipment to modernize production lines and improve throughput while maintaining safety and precision
  • Create and maintain routings for manufactured items within Syteline ERP, ensuring accurate and efficient process flows
  • Create, update, and manage in-process drawings for manufacturing parts to ensure clarity and accuracy in production specifications
  • Develop comprehensive manufacturing process documentation, including work instructions, machine setup guidelines, and process flow charts, to ensure consistency and quality
  • Standardize manufacturing processes across product families, streamlining production and reducing variability
  • Provide Design for Manufacture (DFM) feedback to design engineers, ensuring that new products are optimized for efficient production
  • Collaborate with machining, fabrication, and assembly staff to troubleshoot problems
  • Ensure that all manufacturing operations comply with strict quality control standards, actively participating in root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective measures
Primary Competencies:
  • A proactive problem-solving mindset and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in driving operational improvements
  • Expert-level proficiency in CNC programming, including G-code and Mastercam, with strong tool selection skills for metal fabrication
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks CAD/CAM software, with a strong focus on manufacturability and process optimization
  • Deep familiarity with lean manufacturing and other continuous improvement techniques
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document processes and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring precision in all aspects of the role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for process documentation and reporting

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent industry experience
  • 15-20 years of experience in manufacturing engineering within an industrial environment, particularly with CNC machining and precision manufacturing
  • Extensive experience with manufacturing processes such as casting, machining, and welding, with a strong background in working with exotic alloys like Inconel, Hastelloy, and Titanium
  • In-depth experience with advanced manufacturing techniques, including "lights-out" machining and the implementation of pallet pool systems for enhanced automation
  • Strong knowledge of machining strategies, with a focus on optimizing efficiency and maximizing unattended "walk-away" times
  • Mastercam programing experience highly desirable
  • Ability to learn and work within our Syteline ERP system is required.
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job such as:
    • Safely navigating a manufacturing environment
    • Extended periods of sitting and using a computer
    • Occasional bending and stooping
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
